A seminar on practical applications of mathematics was organized by the department of Basic Science and Humanities which was attended by Prof. Dr.Swadhin Pattnayak, Director of Institute of Mathematics & Applications. He was the Chief guest of the occasion. He described many formulas of Newton, Galileo and Maxwell etc to our students with the aim of motivating them to carryout research in the respective field.Apart from that, he inspired and enlightened our students to face the future challenges

An active body can not be developed without a peaceful mind and to synchronise our body mind and soul, we require regular yoga for practice. For this purpose, we have organised a spiritual lecture by Sri Sudhansu Adhikari in our auditorium Hall. Sri Adhikari is the Regional Head of Patanjali Yoga Ashram of Orissa and West Bengal Zone, has preached and propagated inspiring precepts around the world. Shri Adhikari demonstrated different body postures of Yoga. Our students have been greatly benefitted from by divine messages and his advice to practise Yoga for 10-15 minutes everyday which will eventually help them increase their memory power.

Creative artist and renowned music artists of Satvik Veena Mr.Salil Bhatt and Mr. Akram Khan have visited our college. Mr. Bhatt has received the “Pre-Grammy Nomination”, a symbol of his success and expertise in the field of music. He is the first Indian to perform inside the parliament of Germany. So it was our privilege to have them in our college. They mesmerised us by their performance. This performance of Salil Bhatt ji was also accompanied by the gracious presence of the famous tabla Player Akram Khan.

We had organised a Magic Show in our campus, the famous magician D.K. Rao present the magic show. It was really an entertainment programme for the students as well as for the staff after their daily busy schedule.

The famous oriya comedian actor Braja singh visited the GIET, Bhubaneswar campus & addressed our students on one Saturday Week End Programme besides entertaining he also elaborated the toughness he faced to reach at the present day position he held. He mentioned that name and fame can not be achieved over night and life is tough to achive a position. He also spoke about the effect of media on youth generation and advised the students not to move on wrong or destructive path rather to accept the positive aspect of media. The SuperStar Comedian of Oriya CinemaJayeeram Samal ( Jayi Bhai ) also addressed our students and elaborated his biography in a comic manner and passed the message to our students that “laughing is the best medicine in today’s life”. He also advised the students to laugh for 10-15 minutes in their daily routine which will keep their mind relaxed and energised. We thank Jayee Bhai for his valuable advice.
